Our story
Before the official creation of the Rubber Route, its CEO, Juan Fernán Sierra Hayer, began as a rubber tapper on a small rubber plantation located in the city of Palmira, in the Cauca Valley, Colombia. This plantation is one of the oldest in the world, and its seedlings were obtained from species of the genus Hevea, selected by the expedition of Dr. Richard Evans Schultes.

His experience in the world of natural rubber came from participating in the artisanal production of leaves (RSS 1, RSS 2, RSS 3) and latex, which were distributed in different regions of Colombia and marketed in the manufacturing industry for products such as hoses, gloves, and footwear. Simultaneously, through training and courses in natural rubber-producing regions, he deepened his knowledge, enabling him to give lectures at national and international events, as well as at research centers and universities. Furthermore, he also taught theoretical and practical courses for producers and entrepreneurs on administration, agronomic management, disease control, rubber tree planting, rubber quality, industrialization, and marketing.
Finally, in 2015, with the goal of consolidating its position in this market and creating its own brand, it sought guidance from businessman Dr. Jairo Gómez, of the company Xzito, located in Johnston, Rhode Island, United States. From this conversation, after considering several names, and based on the story of how the director connected his clients with the rubber tree, the name Rubber Route emerged.
Currently, Rubber Route is focused on opening new business opportunities, as well as offering consulting and advisory services for rubber management, participating in the industrialization and commercialization of natural rubber in a sustainable way.
